AIM has carried out many Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans (SUMPs) in medium-sized and big cities. Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans define a set of interrelated measures which satisfy mobility needs in a city and its surrounding area, and address all modes and forms of transport (walking, cycling, public transport, car, etc.).
SUMPs provide municipalities with mobility strategies to be implemented in the short term and serve as a guide for municipal decision making relating to mobility. SUMPS build on existing plans, and one of their main characteristics istheir participatory approach – citizens and stakeholders are involved throughout, from decision making to evaluation.
